Yes, skin care has gone to the dogs!

Skin related problems are a major problem for both dogs and cats. Therefore, I am making this list of various creams, lotions, shampoos and oils available. All of these products are made by Ferlow Botanicals.

The following list also provides information on oils that can be taken internally.

All of Ferlow Botanicals products are made without synthetics, artificial colours, scents or preservatives. There is no doubt that Ferlow Brothers makes one of the best, all natural products available.

Many of these products are also available in a tester size. This allows you to try different products to find which one works best for you or your pet.

Please note: This information is meant to be educational only. Talk to you veterinarian, preferably a holistic veterinarian treatment of problems.

Since many of you will probably want to use products like this for yourself as well as your pet, I am including the list of all products so that you can try products for yourself too. I mention which products are just for human use only in the descriptions.

Comfrey–Cayenne:

Comfrey leaves and especially the root contain alantoin, a cell proliferate that increases the healing of wounds. It is soothing, stops bleeding, inflammation, hemorrhoids, varicose veins. Cayenne acts as an energy stimulant, mildly heating. Because pets tend to lick themselves, you may wish to purchase this cream in a tester size first to see if your pet will lick this cream. Due to the fact that cayenne is hot when taken internally, we want to make sure there is no problem. However, if there is no problem then cayenne, when used externally is wonderful. Some pets will lick the cream and some won't.

This plant grows in the desert of South Africa. It is very effective in relieving pain from arthritis, lupus, gout, rheumatism. Used by Aborigines for centuries. It has anti–inflammatory effects and is known as a natural pain reliever.

Natural Herbal Shampoos

Please remember, do not use Tea Tree or Peppermint shampoos on your pets. They can be used on you, but not your pets due to the strong aroma which can be overpowering to our pets while fine to you.

All of these shampoos are Phosphate and Sulfate free!!! This is why I like these products!

Calendula Shampoo:

A mild all purpose herbal shampoo with sweet orange and lemon essential oils.

Hemp Shampoo:

A mild all purpose herbal shampoo with high quality hempseed oil. No essential oils added. Natural fragrance. Since this shampoo has no essential oils added, the aroma is even more gentle and so its a good choice for pets.

Neem Tree Shampoo:

All natural shampoo with Need Tree and other herbal extracts. This shampoo contains essential oils of Lavender and Rosemary. Sometimes Lavender can be overpowering to our pets, however, this shampoo is really good for skin problems. However, my suggestion is if you want to use Neem Tree on your pets that what you do is buy the Hemp Shampoo and add essential oil of Neem to the Hemp shampoo.
