How Is Natural Homemade Pet Food Made — With Love

Dogs and cats deserve a wholesome raw meat diet

A Quick Introduction To Natural Homemade Pet Food

The object in creating optimal health and nutrition is to study each animal's habitat and food sources, then custom make diets that most closely resemble their own natural (original) diet. — Jeff Brisco, Senior Animal Nutritionist, Los Angeles Zoo

My preference for vegetables is organic.

My preference for meat is free range or organic.

My preference is purified, glacial, spring or well water.

...but if you cannot get this, do not worry as it is not the end of the world. Use what you have and you will be fine.

How to make wholesome homemade pet foodToo many people make a whale of an excuse about not having pure or the highest quality ingredients. This in turn becomes an excuse for doing nothing.

Excuses are simply no excuse.

Use what you have. Use what is available to you. Use what you can afford. There is no shame in this. Just focus on feeding raw, wholesome, homemade pet food even if that means you have to feed frozen vegetables as compared to fresh organic vegetables. Frozen vegetables, as an example, are still leaps and bounds better than commercial pet food.

You know, I fed my cat meat from Safeway for over 1 year as I was not able to locate a source of free range meats and he still did wonderful! Jumbo, the sick dog that participated in my sick dog project, also did not receive organic or free range meats and he still experienced healing. So spend less time worrying about the imperfection and more time doing what needs to be done — that is the only lecture and sermon you will receive today on this topic I promise!

... and remember, when preparing your homemade dog food or homemade cat food, double or triple the amount I use if you have many animals or big mouths to feed. If you have small animals, divide everything by 2. Just relax, keep things simple — have fun!

What A Difference Your Diet Has Made!

2009-03-13

I just wanted to write and tell you what a difference this new diet has made in my dogs' over–all health. I am awe struck and I have only had them on it for about three weeks.

I have two Chihuahuas and a Sharpei mix. My Sharpei (Nelly) had skin problems or allergies, I think due to the dog food I was feeding her. I could run the sweeper three times a day and still have hair everywhere. I was seriously thinking of finding a new home for her. I work two jobs and have teenagers and not enough time to sweep constantly.

That's when I started searching for a new diet for the dogs. I came across this and started it right away. It doesn't really consume anymore of my time and I don't have to sweep everyday anymore! I just can't get over the difference in their coats. They are so shiny and healthy looking. Thank you so much Jesse!

I actually enjoy feeding time for them. They love it. Even the finicky Chihuahua! And another great part about this is that they don't poop near as much as they used to. I know that Nelly would go at least six times a day if not more. I have learned so much from your website. I have read a lot of books about feeding a raw diet and one would say do this and the other one say don't do that and back and forth but none of it worked out for us and none of it was as simple as this is!

I just can't thank you enough.

The Transformation Speaks For Itself...

2010-08-19

I am writing to tell you of the transformation in my pets since they have started eating all raw meat.

I used to have to clean up cat vomit on a pretty much daily basis. Sometimes they would even vomit right into the kibble bowl. From DAY 1 on raw meat, none of my cats has vomited with two exceptions — someone fed one of the cats a piece of cooked ham, and one of them got up on the counter and ate some pancake batter. No surprise those foods made the cats sick.

They are all acting years younger. Neko (12, neutered male) has gone from hissing at everybody all the time to climbing in laps. Bitty (6, spayed female) is as playful as a kitten, and has already started losing unhealthy pudge. Ed (9, neutered male, king of the cats) is being a bit of a bully with the other cats (nobody is getting hurt) but he is being affectionate and playful with us humans.

Ed took to eating meat right away, but Bitty and Neko are still adjusting. They seem unable to believe the meat is really for them, and act like they are afraid to get caught eating it. An unexpected side benefit — I saw Neko eating a bug today. Don't worry, our home is not treated with pesticides, and that palmetto bug was a healthy snack for a too–skinny cat.

I can't thank you enough for making this information freely available. It surely leaves no doubt that your motivation is love for animals. Thank you for helping me to re–connect with my pets.

Sincerely – Virginia
