Appendix A - Act 4 - Scene 4 - Food For Thought
Act 4 - Scene 4: Recently, I had the opportunity to take a test for myself. The test was a personalized metabolic test. This test required a urine and saliva sample before and after taking a glucose drink. In addition, a questionnaire was completed and my vital signs were recorded. My blood type was recorded along with the acidity or alkalinity of my blood, urine and saliva. It was determined if I was my metabolic type was sympathetic, parasympathetic, etc. The test was not hard or difficult to take and it lasted for about 2 hours. After the test though, I discovered what foods my body needs and what foods do what to my body. It was a very informative test which produced results within a week as I was able to change my diet according to the results. You see, each person, each individual and each pet is so different to the next. One food may be good for you but it can have the complete and total opposite effect on the person standing next to you. A food that is considered healthy like tofu may be wonderful for your body but it may only cause problems for another. It just depends on your metabolic type. In talking to some people, it appears that now a similar test is available for pets through some holistic vets. So if you are able to access a similar test, then it's something to consider. If this sort of test is not available for your pet, we simply need to make do with what we do know and use some common sense when it comes to specializing foods for our pets. As you begin feeding wholesome food to your pets, you may see improvements in them. We can be oblivious to the reasons why these improvements have occurred because simply feeding wholesome food in general can help make a difference. Sometimes however, these improvements can be attributed to specific therapeutic values of foods. We can take advantage of these qualities to help at a basic level. We can use specific meats and vegetables in the food we feed our dogs and cats to help meet their specific requirements or needs.
Please note, this information is not provided to create cures as not one food will do this. You will not find a panacea or cure-all in this book. I prefer to promote a healthy lifestyle. No drug or herb can create this. It is true that many who begin feeding wholesome food have seen remarkable benefits, but this is not because of using just one food, herb, or remedy - it is because they have created a healthy lifestyle for their companion. A healthy lifestyle is more than just one food. If each part of that lifestyle is as pure as possible then it will have a beneficial effect on other aspects of the your pet’s life. Some problems are deep seated and require additional assistance from veterinarians. So this information is provided to help you discover certain foods that may give some extra help to your companion. |
